A

AAA

Triple A or "AAA" is a term used to designate video games with a high development and marketing budget. Often contrasted with independent video games that are created with more modest means.

AFK

Acronym of the word "Away From Keyboard" in English, which means "Loin Du Clavier". This term is used by the players to mean that they are going to be away.

Aggro

Attracting the attention of an enemy (voluntarily or not)

Brb

Acronym of "Be Right Back" in English, which means "I'll be right back".

C

Coop

Short for "Cooperation", a "co-op game" is when players have to help each other to achieve their goals.

Crunch

Crunch is a term used in the video game industry to designate a period of intense work.
During this period, teams face excessive working conditions, high pressure and an intensive rhythm in order to meet deadlines.
Numerous cases have been reported in recent years, including "culture crunch" in some companies.
Finally, let's remember that according to the WHO, a negative work environment can lead to physical and mental health problems, absenteeism and a loss of productivity.

Dithering

Graphic technique used in pixel art to create depth in a composition.

Drop

Loot or reward that appears when you eliminate an enemy.

Shared screen

The split screen is an effect consisting in dividing the screen in several parts in order to display different scenes.

FPS (First-person shooter)

A first-person shooter, which means that the player sees the action through the eyes of his avatar.

FPS (Frames Per Second)

Acronym of "Frames Per Second" in English, which means "Images per second".

Acronym of "Good Luck" in English.

Acronym of the word "Have fun" in English.

MMORPGs are a genre of video game based on the principles of tabletop role-playing games and massively multiplayer games, allowing a large number of players to interact simultaneously in a virtual world.

A style of digital art that uses low screen resolution often coupled with a limited color palette to create compositions. This term is often used when talking about retro games. Pixel art was mostly used to overcome the technical limitations that game creators had to face.

Rogue Like and Rogue Lite

Rogue Like is a sub-genre of video games that features:
- procedurally generated levels
- permanent death
- a turn-based combat system
- no ending
Rogue Lite has the same concepts, but often has a less punishing death and an ending.
Since the game "Rogue" to which we owe this name, many games called "Rogue Like/Lite" have been created and have modified the codes. To name a few: Hades, Dead Cells, Slay the Spire or Risk of Rain.

RPG (Role Playing Game)

The role-playing video game is a genre of video game based on the principles of tabletop role-playing.

Refers to a player's talent.

Spawn

Defines the area where a player, an enemy or a monster appears.

Sprite

Rectangular image, animated or not, partly transparent, used to display characters, scenery or objects on the screen.

3d modeling method consisting in projecting a 2d image on the surface of a 3d model to apply a texture.
